Washing Your Hair Too Often
When our hair is washed too regularly, the natural oils that our scalp produces are stripped away, leaving us with dry hair which can easily break. Some have even reported that when they washed their hair every day, they were more prone to hair loss and severe breakage, leaving their scalp feeling vulnerable. It is always best to train your hair into a schedule that works for you but doesn’t involve a hair wash day every day.
The Temperature Of Your Water
When we wash our hair, it is important to understand what temperature our water should be set to, in order to protect our scalp and hair. Extra warm water puts our hair at risk of heat damage and strips our hair of oils. Hot water can encourage hair to become fragile. Hair experts always recommend to take lukewarm showers which will open hair follicles.
Towel Drying
Towels often have a rough fabric, which can easily damage our hair and lead to extreme breakage. When hair is wet, it is at its most fragile state, meaning it should be taken extra care of when brushing or drying. Towel drying strips all of the moisture out of hair and will ultimately lead to more split ends.
No Heat Protectant
There is a reason why hairdressers and other hair experts highly encourage heat protectant before drying and styling. Hot tools on hair will split hair strands and dry them out. The point of heat protectant is to add a barrier of protection between the tool and the hair to avoid any damage.
